Ford End prepares for grand celebration of King Charles' coronation
There'll be street parties popping up all over Essex - all weekend!
To celebrate King Charles' Historic coronation - local community members in Ford End, Essex are gearing up for an exciting street party today.
In a recent interview with Greatest Hits Radio Essex, Phil Goldberg, a member of the organizing committee, expressed his excitement for the event. "We started talking about it before Christmas at one of our committee meetings, trying to think of something good for the village. We suggested this is a good excuse for us to all get together and have a bit of a party, and we're definitely looking forward to it."
The community aspect of the street party is a key feature, with local residents coming together to organize activities such as a fancy dress party and games. "It's really been a big fill for the community," said Goldberg. "We've got people who are coming along to judge the fancy dress competition, and there's really been a big buzz around the village in the lead up to the event."
In keeping with the coronation theme, the fancy dress party has a king and queen theme aimed at the children, with parents also encouraged to dress up. Goldberg himself plans to do face painting for the children and hopes to wear something in red, white, and blue.
Perhaps the most memorable aspect of the event, however, will be the sense of community coming together after a challenging year. "I think it's going to stick in people's minds because it's going to be the one big thing that we've done after the COVID pandemic," said Goldberg.
