Firefighters have been battling a blaze in Doddinghurst, which destroyed six vehicles and an outbuilding.

The first call was received at 6:03pm on Monday, when a crew from Brentwood Fire Station were called to Warren Lane.

Upon arrival, the team found that two cars were on fire and another four had already been burnt out. The fire was extinguished within the hour.

However, the firefighters were called back to the scene at 10:20pm, following reports of an outbuilding fire.

Six crews found a building measuring 20 metres by 10 metres, which contained straw, engulfed in flames.

Due to limited water supply, a Water Bowser from Corringham was requested, along with an Incident Command Unit from Witham. The team surrounded the building to prevent the fire from spreading and protect nearby farm machinery.

Throughout the night, crews made steady progress extinguishing the fire and monitoring hotspots. The incident was scaled down as firefighters continued to work, and the last crew left the scene at 10:54am.

The outbuilding suffered severe fire and smoke damage, and six vehicles were destroyed.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
