Firefighters have rescued a calf that was stuck in water in Dedham.

It got tangled in the undergrowth of the River Stour yesterday morning (10 May) in Mill Lane.

Swift Water Rescue trained firefighters from Colchester and the Animal Rescue Unit from Chelmsford were called to rescue the calf after it had gone for a dip and could not get back out.

The team were able to cut away at tree branches under the water to free the calf.

It was lead to safety and left in the care of a farmer.
