An investigation's found the cause of a fire in Saffron Walden to be accidental.

Investigations took place yesterday, into the blaze on Tuesday in Shire Hill.

Speaking yesterday morning, Group Manager Dan Partridge said: "We are meeting at the site with the building owner and other partners this morning to plan how we will hand the scene over later today.

"I'd like to thank residents and businesses in the area for their patience while we bring this incident to a safe conclusion."

During the height of the fire residents and businesses nearby were asked to keep windows and doors closed, due to the large amount of smoke in the area.

The fire, at a two-storey building, had six crews attend on Tuesday afternoon, after crews were called around 2:38pm.
