Fire crews have been tackling a major blaze at a Harwich pub this morning,

Flames broke out before 8am at the Hanover Inn on Church Street. Fire crews arrived to find the building well alight with the blaze spreading to neighbouring properties.

There are no reports of any injuries and firefighters say they're making 'good progress' in bringing the incident under control.

Incident Commander, Craig McLellan, said “The affected properties have sadly seen extensive damage but our crews are working hard to minimise any further damage.

“I’d like to thank Essex Police, East of England Ambulance Service and Tendring District Council who are all on-site to assist with the incident this morning.”

People are being advised to avoid the area.
