People in Colchester have got until tomorrow (Friday) to have their say on the future of travel and transport in the town.

The Colchester Future Transport Strategy looks at how to deliver a vision centred around improving health and wellbeing and tackling the climate emergency.

The transport vision aims to "transform Colchester into a place which prioritises active and safe sustainable travel to bring about health, environmental and economic benefits".

It comes as there was a "significant" drop in car use through lockdown earlier this year.

The travel vision will be underpinned by a series of objectives, including providing attractive and healthy environments, improving sustainable transport modes, supporting economic growth and connectivity, providing a safer transport environment, managing demand and managing highways assets.

The Colchester Future Transport Strategy looks at how to deliver this vision, while making sure there is consideration into the town's importance as an employment, leisure and residential centre for the region.

It will also provide the guidelines against which future projects will be assessed.

The strategy sees four zones being created - the town centre, wider town area, borough boundary and strategic corridors.

People can have their say here, or by completing the survey at the end of this document and emailing it to colchesterfuturetransport@essexhighways.org .
