Female pedestrian dies in A12 collision

Police were called out in the early hours to the crash near Chelmsford

A pedestrian has died in a crash on the A12 near Chelmsford this morning.

Police closed the road after the collision at around 2am.

Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on the southbound carriageway of the road near to junction 16.

The woman died at the scene.

The carriageway was closed while police carried out enquiries at the scene.

They are asking us to avoid the area and plan our journeys beforehand.

Police are carrying out an investigation into the circumstances which led up to the collision.
