Fatality on Essex railway prompts investigation
Railway disruption followed
One person has died on the railway tracks in Upminster, Essex this morning.
British Transport Police responded to reports, arriving at the scene at 7.47am.
Emergency services, including paramedics, attended, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities state that the incident is not considered suspicious, and standard procedures will be followed, with a file to be prepared for the coroner.
The incident caused disruptions on the c2c network, with trains rerouted via Rainham at Pitsea.
To mitigate inconvenience, Greater Anglia and Transport for London accepted tickets on alternative routes.
