Farmers across Essex encouraged to show how they're fighting climate change
A video competition has been launched by the CLA

The Country Land and Business Association is urging farmers to enter a competition where they send video footage in showing what they are doing to combat climate change.
A £250 cash prize, cases of wine and free tickets to the CLA’s forthcoming climate change conference will be awarded to the best entrants.
The competition has emerged after discussions on the impact of farming, and concern for the damage it is causing to the planet, as it is contributing to a large amount of CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere.
One of the benefits of the competition will be to share ideas around how farmers can combat climate change.
Some are doing things like tree planting, as well as looking after their soil so it can suck carbon out of the atmosphere, and peatland restoration.
The plan is to shine a light on the farmers who are working to become more sustainable, as well as inspire others to do the same.
Jonathan Roberts, the CLA’s Director of External Affairs said:
“Get your David Attenborough hat on and tell your story in your own way.”
“What matters most is authenticity, take a little selfie video and talk about why you’re doing what you’re doing- it can be style, Instagram style, simple or complex. We don’t mind.”
“What we want to know is your story. What we want to know is how you’re contributing to the fight against climate change.”
“By entering the competition, you could reach thousands and thousands, maybe millions of people around the world who are all wanting to know what more can be done to fight climate change and to inspire them.
“Let’s listen and learn from one another and apply those lessons onto our own farming.”
“For farmers who aren’t doing so much, take a look at the videos and take a look at what’s happening on social media, and take a look at what other people are doing.”
