Police are investigating an aggravated burglary in Laburnam Drive, Corringham, shortly after 10am yesterday morning, Thursday 6 April.

It was reported that an armed man had entered a home and threatened the family inside. One man sustained a head injury and heā€™s being treated in hospital.

Thankfully, one of the occupants was able to leave the home and alert police to the incident. The intruder then left the home.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene and carried out a search of the area but no one matching the description of the suspect could be located.

No arrests have been made at this stage and police are following a number of lines of enquiry.

DI Mark Gridley, who is leading the investigation, said: ā€œWeā€™re making good progress since this incident was first reported to us this morning. Most importantly, the family are now safe and they are being supported.

ā€œI would now urge anyone living in Laburnam Drive, Gifford Cross Avenue and Gifford Cross Road who has CCTV or doorbell footage of the area to get in contact with us. Specifically, weā€™d like to see footage taken in the area between 8am and 1pm.

ā€œWe believe we have identified a man of interest who was in the area at the time.

"He was wearing a long green jacket, grey trainers and a beanie-style hat.ā€
