Essex village looks to take on new homes

Alresford's Neighbourhood Plan is being drawn up

Author: Dan GoodingPublished 22nd Feb 2021

A North Essex village is looking at how it could help take a share of 11,000 new homes.

Alresford's Neighbourhood Plan will include future development sites, to fit in with Tendring's plans.

People in and around the village are being asked for their views.

The latest consultation will accept comments on specific matters and background documents.

These are:

  • An updated Strategic Environmental Assessment and Habitat Regulation Assessment
  • Alresford Parish Council's update to its Consultation Statement
  • The impact of the recent adoption of TDC's Section One Local Plan on the Alresford Neighbourhood Plan
  • The parish council's supporting information about non-designated listed buildings

Nick Turner, Chairman of TDC's Planning Policy and Local Plan Committee, said those who live and work in Alresford should have their say.

He said:

"These plans are an excellent way for towns and villages to shape their future, and give more detail as we dive down from our district-wide Local Plan.

"To be most effective, the local community must engage with and be part of the development of Neighbourhood Plans, giving their local knowledge, so I would encourage those who live or work in Alresford to get involved."

The relevant documents can be found on the TDC website.

Comments submitted as part of a previous consultation, held from August to September 2020, still stand as part of the process and do not need to be re-sent.

The consultation runs from Friday 19 February until 5pm on Friday 9 April.

Comments can be sent by email to planning.policy@tendringdc.gov.uk or in writing to William Fuller at The Council Offices, Thorpe Road, Weeley, Essex, CO16 9AJ.
