Essex residents reminded to take photo ID to polling station
People can cast their vote on Thursday 4 July

Essex residents are being urged to have their say in the General Election this week – and to remember to take their photo ID.
Everyone who is registered to vote should have received a card giving details of the polling station where they can cast their vote tomorrow (4 July).
Postal votes have also been sent out to thousands of people across the county, which can be returned to any polling station on the day.
After the introduction of new legislation in 2022, people going to vote in polling stations will need to show an accepted form of photo ID to receive their ballot paper.
Ian Davidson, Acting Returning Officer for both the Clacton constituency and the Harwich and North Essex constituency, is urging voters to have their say.
He said: “We would always encourage people to cast their ballot in any election, so put in time to head to a polling station on Thursday to have your say on who will represent you in the House of Commons for the next term of office.
“Following a change to the law two years ago, please remember to bring an accepted form of photo ID with you to enable you to vote.”
The forms of photo ID that are accepted include a UK passport or driving licence, a Blue Badge, older or disabled person’s bus pass, PASS card or Defence Identity Card.
