Veteran Remembrance challenge: Three Marathons, Three Days, One Mission
Over three consecutive days the team of soldiers will complete three full marathons, to raise awareness for remembrance, and money for charity
A team of Army Reserve soldiers will today embark on an extraordinary test of endurance, resilience, and determination — all to raise funds for the Royal Anglian Regiment Charity.
Over three consecutive days, from today (Friday 7th) to Sunday 9th November, the team will complete three full marathons, to raise awareness for remembrance, and money for charity.
The challenge begins with two traditional marathons in Chelmsford and Colchester, both completed in standard Army physical training kit. The third and final marathon — a loaded march — will return to Chelmsford, where the soldiers will carry full patrol order, including helmets and combat body armour.
The final stage will conclude on Remembrance Sunday, when the team will join the Chelmsford Parade, marching shoulder-to-shoulder with veterans, serving personnel, and the local community to honour the fallen.
At 11:00 am, they will stand to attention for the Two Minutes’ Silence, a fitting end to their immense effort — and a moment of reflection for all who have served and sacrificed.
The Royal Anglian Regiment Charity provides crucial support to serving soldiers, veterans, and their families during times of need or hardship. Its work ensures that the Regimental family receives assistance when it matters most.
WO2 Michael Ransley, one of the event’s organisers, has served for over twenty-five years in the Regular Army and now two years in the Army Reserve. He has deployed on operations around the world, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Northern Ireland, and Kosovo, and has previously completed several charity challenges in 2020 and 2021.
Private Katie Brazier has served in the Army Reserve for just over a year, recently graduated with a degree in Tourism, and has trained in Germany. She will begin her career in the Regular Army in January 2026.
Private Joe Ransom has served for more than two years and recently returned from Operation INTERFLEX, where he helped train members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He has also exercised in America and Germany and is eager to continue building his military experience.
This remarkable challenge embodies the spirit of service and sacrifice that defines the Armed Forces.
