Essex man makes fun of potholes with silly snaps

A man from Essex has been drawing attention to the potholes in his local area by making fun of them on social media.
Andy Conroy, from Brightlingsea, has been posting photos on a Facebook page called Brightlingsea -The Hole Picture of children's toys enjoying the holes in the road.
The page, which has now amassed 1,000 followers, features toys water skiing, sailing, and swimming in the potholes, as well as other characters taking a dip including the Loch Ness Monster and a series of marine wildlife.
The 66-year-old, who runs window cleaning business Mr Windows, told us how it came about: "a friend of mine put a photograph on a local Facebook page of some plastic ducks in a pothole. He captioned it 'lovely to see a young family enjoying the new local water feature' and I thought 'I can join in on this'.
"So we had a conversation and decided there was some mileage in this and we would try it out."
But Andy says there is a wider point behind the comic photos: "We do have a problem with potholes and if, like me, you're driving around in a van with 300l of water in the back and you hit a pothole too hard, you're talking hundreds of pounds for broken suspension or a burst tyre.
"So I'm having a little protest in my comical way", he said.
And Andy's antics haven't gone unnoticed with some of his posts wracking up thousands of likes from people all over the world.
But Andy said he'd be happy to give up the joke: "I'd be very happy if they filled them all in and I was redundant to be honest. I can release my humour in other places."
