Essex Police are warning people of the dangers of drink driving during New Years and festive celebrations.

In a bid to stop the amount of drink drive incidence, the police are encouraging those who have drunk the night before, to not get into the drivers seat the next morning, as while they may feel sober, there might still be alcohol in their system.

Matt Crow is the Roads Inspector for Essex Police, and has said that

"we are out and about in bigger numbers currently stopping vehicles and checking the drivers aren't over the prescribed limit for alcohol and drugs, and we do end up stopping people first thing in the morning and they're surprised by that."

Its really important that people remember that if they have been out at a Christmas Party, they could be over the limit the next day. Don't just think about how you're going to get home that night, think about how you're getting to work the next morning."
