Essex Police were called to the A12 in the early hours of this morning after concerns for the welfare of a man.

A number of roads were closed in the area, including the A12, for about one hour and 40 minutes while officers dealt with the incident.

Police attended and a man was sectioned under the Mental Health Act 1983.

He was taken to a safe place and left in the care of medical professionals.

Essex Police have thanked motorists for their patience.
