A police constable has been dismissed without notice after they were found to have committed gross misconduct.

Ex-PC Daniel Palmer defaced a cell door with offensive language about a colleague, which later had to be replaced as well as damage to property of a nature offensive to a colleague.

A spokesperson for the force said:

"He was alleged to have breached standards of authority, respect and courtesy, orders and instructions, duties and responsibilities, and discreditable conduct.

"At an accelerated misconduct hearing on Monday 28 July, chaired by Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington, ex-PC Palmer was found to have committed gross misconduct and was dismissed without notice. He was also added the College of Policing barred list. "

CC Harrington said: “This behaviour is plainly unacceptable. Ex-PC Palmer has done a disservice to thousands of hard-working officers who uphold the high standards we expect of anyone representing Essex Police and wasted precious time and money that could have been used to prevent and detect crime."
