Essex Police close A12 following earlier crash

It's closed between J18 and J19 in both directions.

The A12 has been closed this afternoon following an earlier crash.

A van and a motorbike were in a collision on the northbound carriageway at around 2.45pm.

A man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Between J18 at Sandon and J19 for Boreham remains closed in both directions whilst emergency services work at the scene.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area as traffic continues to build.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

"An ambulance, a vehicle from Hazardous Area Response Team, the Basics Essex Accident Response Service and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance attended a road traffic collision on the A12 before junction 19 just after 2.45pm this afternoon.

"An adult male was transported by air ambulance to The Royal London Hospital for treatment."
