Officers who joined Essex Police 20 years ago have been awarded.
Detectives and uniformed officers received their Long Service and Good Conduct Awards earlier this week (12 July) at Essex Police Headquarters in Chelmsford.
It comes 20 years after they joined the force as the first recruits of the new millennium.
Between them, DC Michelle Rawson, PC Mark Thomas, Detective Superintendent Scott Cannon, PC Daniel Sorrell, DC Kathrine Burton, DC Greig Avery and DC Lee Pudney have done everything from protecting people from domestic abuse in Leigh-on-Sea to seizing firearms from criminals in Grays.
They have also done things such as catching a rapist who was convicted and sentenced to 28 years in prison, saving fellow officers attacked with a knife, and convicting murderers, burglars and drug dealers.
The group of officers have worked beats across Essex as part of community and response policing teams, and have gone on to specialise in roles including investigating sexual offences, domestic abuse and major crime, and working in intelligence-gathering, roads policing and firearms.
The officers were recognised for their team work and own personal achievements by Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington and the Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Mrs Jennifer Tolhurst.
