Essex man jailed after crash which left two dead and two seriously injured
Front seat passenger Sophia Khan, 16, and 21-year-old Max Halcrow, both from Loughton, were fatally injured.
A man has been jailed for eight and a half years after being found guilty of causing a crash near Loughton which left two people dead and two seriously injuried.
23 year old Kane Faulkner-Wild, from St Johns Road in Epping, denied driving a BMW which hit a tree in Golding's Hill on August 24 2019.
Police discovered the seriously damaged M3 while on a routine patrol.
Front seat passenger, 16 year old Sophia Khan, and 21-year-old Max Halcrow, both from Loughton, were killed in the crash.
A 16 year old girl, who had been sitting in the back, was thrown from the car. A 17 year old girl was trapped. Both suffered life changing injuries.
Chelmsford Crown Court heard how officers calculated the car was travelling well above the 40-mph speed limit when it crashed.
Faulkner-Wild’s blood alcohol level was above the drink driving limit at the time
Detective Sergeant Nason, of Essex Police, said:
“Faulkner-Wild’s actions killed two people and left two other passengers with life-changing injuries.
“His actions also changed the lives of each of his victims’ families in ways he cannot imagine.
“Today, he has been given a substantial sentence and he will spend a considerable time behind bars.
“I can only hope that, although today’s sentence will not bring back Sophia and Max, it provides some comfort for their families and for his victims.”
