A family in Essex have been left homeless after their tumble dryer caught fire.

Firefighters were called to a second floor flat in Clacton-on-Sea last night (Friday 30 December).

The family safely left the property and called 999

According to Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, when crews arrived the "flat was engulfed in fire and full of smoke."

Fortunately, the crew were able to stop the fire and prevent it from spreading to other properties.

The home is "no longer habitable"

Whilst the family managed to get out of the flat and call the emergency services, the flat is "no longer habitable."
