Essex businesses await extra support in 2021 Budget

Businesses in Essex are waiting to hear what support will be available to them in the 2021 Budget.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer will set out his plans for the next financial year this afternoon (12.30).
It was confirmed last night (2 March) the furlough scheme would continue until the end of September.
Mr Sunak is expected to announced additional support for culture and sports, as well as help for small businesses.
Essex Chambers of Commerce is hoping it won't include an increase in tax rates.
Director of Policy, David Burch, said:
"In our view it's much better to get the economy up and running, to make sure it's returned to a really positive state and actually getting tax revenue in, before they think about putting those tax levels up."
Essex Chambers is also hoping more support will be announced specifically for freelance workers and businesses in the hospitality and culture sector that employ them.
David added:
"They haven't had the sort of support that has been available to other businesses.
"We're hoping that the Chancellor will have recognised that and will ensure that those individuals and businesses will get the support they need to continue into the future."
