Essex & Suffolk Water to offer customers up to 50% off bills amid cost of living crisis
People on low incomes could have their payments slashed

Local water firm Essex & Suffolk Water is to offer extra help to families across the East of England who are struggling to pay their bulls.
Customers in debt or who are receiving benefits may be able to cut the cost of their payments by 50%, under several schemes being run by the supplier.
Costs would be subsidised for qualifying people on low incomes for a year.
The company says its helped 23,000 families struggling with the cost of their bills so far this year, and is also able to offer payment plans and payment breaks to help people with their finances.
Head of Income for Essex & Suffolk Water, Mark Wilkinson, said: “As energy prices rise, we understand that things are going to be particularly tight for lots of people, and we want to give them the help they need early.
“If we can ease things up for anyone who might be starting to find themselves in difficult financial circumstances, and help them get back on track, then that’s got to be a good thing.
“Admitting that you’re struggling is a big step, but we have fantastic, well-trained team who will do all they can to support our customers and make sure that they get all of the help they need.”
The company serves 1.5 million people in Essex and around 300,000 people in Suffolk.
