Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust are launching their Fund 100 Christmas appeal, calling on the community to give what they can to help fund life-saving missions this December.

Last December the charity helped 132 patients, 69 of those between Christmas Eve and New Years.

Many of these incidents were serious medical and traumatic emergencies such as falls, cardiac arrests, neurological incidents and respiratory crises – moments when every second truly matters.

Mark Jarman-Howe, EHAAT’s Chief Executive Officer, said he was "very excited" about their first Christmas appeal, and that the "tireless" crew are "extremely committed" to helping people on any day of the year.

"We get no funding whatsoever from the government, so we are entirely reliant on the good will of our local communities and we literally don't fly without your support.

"December is actually typically a very busy month. Last year we had 132 missions across December, and 69 of those were just between Christmas Eve and New Years Day.

"Life still happens, and sadly medical emergencies and traumatic accidents still happen as well.

"Our crews are doing an amazing job, but they're giving up their Christmas and their New Year to be available for our local community, and we are very grateful to our teams that do that.

"Literally every penny counts and it's the cumulative effect of lots of people in our communities being very supportive and very generous of their air ambulance. That makes it possible to fly and for us to provide the amazing services that our clinicians do.

"Even the smallest donation is really appreciated and makes a huge amount of difference.

"We absolutely rely on the community support, and without you we can't do what we need to do. And our message to everybody out there is please do your bit to support your local air ambulance."
