Results for local elections in north Essex have started coming in today (7th May).

Votes were counted overnight after residents went to the polls yesterday (6th May).

In north Essex, people had the chance to vote for Borough, District and County Councillors as well as the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Results have been coming in throughout today (7th May).

Colchester Borough Council

Conservatives have taken the most seats with 23 but they are 5 seats short of a majority.

The make-up of the council is as follows:

The turnout was 33.91%.

Tendring District Council by-elections

Eastcliff Ward

Independent Andrew Baker has been elected with 414 votes.

The turnout was 35.58%.

West Clacton and Jaywick Sands Ward

Conservative Jayne Nash has been elected with 500 votes.

Turnout was 28.85%.

Essex County Council

Results for Essex County Council's Colchester division are in.

The number of representatives returned to County Hall from the nine Divisions in the Borough of Colchester are as follows:

Conservative 5

Liberal Democrats 2

Labour 2

Overall turnout for the Colchester Borough was 33.91%.

Meanwhile, the number of representatives from the eight County Divisions in the Tendring district are:
