Discover Roman Colchester with a new trivia trail
It includes some of Colchester's key historic sites
The new trail gives you the chance to explore Colchester's Roman heritage by completing a walking trail around some of Colchester's key historic sites.
It includes Colchester Castle, The Roman Circus Centre, Balkerne Gate and some not as well known areas.
At each location you’ll find a fact based on Colchester’s Roman past and at the end younger guests can challenge themselves to draw their own picture of Roman Colchester or share a fascinating fact they have learned on the trail in return for a small prize.
Councillor Darius Laws, Portfolio Holder for Economy, Business and Heritage for Colchester Borough Council said:
“This new trail is a great way for families to get together, get some fresh air and exercise and discover more about their hometown’s heritage or the town they are visiting.
“You can discover how the Romans lived, what they did for entertainment and even why elephants play a significant role in Colchester’s history!”
