It's being used by Suffolk County Council as a compound for major works on the B1029 Dedham Road Bridge.

According to Colchester Borough Council, it's the most suitable location that has direct access to the bridge and watercourse.

Visitors and residents can instead park at the nearby Mill Lane Car Park.

Councillor Mike Lilley, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Wellbeing and Public Safety, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this temporary closure. However, Suffolk County Council needs to complete these essential bridge works and using the car park as a compound is the best solution.

"We would encourage motorists to park legally and considerately and make use of the nearby and much larger Mill Lane Car Park, which will remain open throughout this period. Due to coronavirus, we are also encouraging motorists to make contactless payments in all our car parks where possible."

Mill Pond Car Park will be shut until 4th December, more information about parking in Dedham can be found here.
