Cows on the loose in West Bergholt

Essex Police have been following them "at a safe distance to protect them"

Essex Police officers have been out and about in West Bergholt this morning (17 July), but for quite an unusual reason.

They have been following cows on the loose "at a safe distance to protect them whilst trying to find their owner".

But, officers said "at this time they aren't causing udder chaos".

Essex Roads Policing have been tweeting about the incident, confirming "a splinter group have gone into a crop field on Wormingford Grove, away from the road".

They added:

"We found approximately 10 escaped cows.

"The lone ranger has joined the others.

"However having found the farmer there are approximately 60 unac"cow"nted for.

"If you see any of the herd please call 101 or 999 depending on circs quoting incident 209 -17/7/21."
