34% of Essex hospital beds used by Covid-19 patients

As of 5th January there were 1,024 beds occupied by coronavirus patients

According to the latest coronavirus data, 34% of hospital beds in Essex were occupied by Covid-19 patients as of 5th January.

That works out at 1,024, which is a rise of 7% one week previous on 29th December.

However, the figures do not include the underreporting of around 250 caused by a "data reporting issue" according to Essex County Council.

Coronavirus infection rates in the county reached 1,029 per 100,000 people as of the previous seven days to 31st December.

In the same time frame there were 15,474 confirmed cases in Essex
