Coronavirus cases & deaths soar in Colchester & Tendring

The area has seen a big rise in recent weeks

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in Colchester and Tendring is continuing to rise.

Cases have risen by 84 per cent in Colchester in the 7 days to the 29th of December - while in Tendring they rose by 95.2 per cent.

The number of people who have died within 28 days of a positive test has also gone up in both areas.

In the week to the 29th of December, deaths rose by 100 per cent in Tendring and were up 71 per cent in Colchester.

In central Colchester, the positivity rate is at 594.3 per 100,000 people.

Around Tendring, that's at 462.1.
