Colchester United, say they're is thrilled to announce the appointment of Danny Cowley as their new Head Coach.

The U's say they wasted no time in securing their top choice, with Danny assuming his role immediately, working alongside his brother Nicky.

It's something of a homecoming for the Cowley brothers, having previously launched their managerial careers at Concord Rangers.

Their journey began with Concord Rangers, where they achieved three promotions before progressing to Braintree Town and subsequently, Lincoln City.

The duo guided Lincoln City from the National League to League One, earning accolades for an impressive FA Cup run even while competing in non-league football. The Imps' extraordinary journey included defeating Championship sides Ipswich Town and Brighton & Hove Albion, as well as Premier League Burnley, in a memorable FA Cup campaign that culminated in a Quarter-Final loss to Arsenal.

Following their success at Lincoln City, the Cowleys embarked on managerial stints at Huddersfield and Portsmouth. Before their return to football management with Colchester United.

We're told the Cowley brothers wasted no time in getting down to business, overseeing their first training session on Thursday afternoon. Their managerial debut with Colchester United is set to take place this weekend as the U's embark on a challenging away fixture against Swindon Town.
