Colchester Foodbank sees demand triple during pandemic
Colchester Foodbank says it'll continue to be there for those in need.

The Colchester Foodbank says it's seen demand increase by 300% since the start of the first lockdown but will continue to be there for those who need it.
The charity says it's been 'interesting' working this year in a warehouse not designed for a pandemic.
In some cases they've had to use other sites to deal with demand on its services.
Mike Beckett, who runs the foodbank, says December is a particularly busy month for them: "Christmas is twice as busy, or December, as normal months.
"That's twice as many clients coming in, twice as many food donations coming in.
"That does mean my volunteers are stretched and we're working hard, especially when we're trying to do it in a socially distanced way."
Mike told us why they do what they do: "We trying and help them when their drowning in that river.
"The main thing we're trying to do, while supporting them and helping them during crisis, is trying to make sure they don't become dependent on us.
"Trying to help ensure they can become independent and move on with their life, because that's what they want."
The Foodbank has been urging people in Colchester left struggling due to the pandemic not to wait for support.
Mike added it's important to seek help if you need it: "Don't wait until the last minute.
"But if you are struggling then we can point, signpost, you in the direction of who you can contact, you know local councillors, local charities, and national ones, Citizens Advice, they can all help people gain access to the foodbank.
