A fire in a block of flats in Colchester was 'started deliberately'.
That is what an investigation into the cause of the fire has found.
A man had to be rescued by firefighters after the blaze.
It happened in a communal stairwell in a three storey block of flats in Dorchester End on Thursday afternoon (3 June).
Crews reported the stairwell was heavily smoke logged.
Firefighters gave oxygen therapy to the man who suffered smoke inhalation.
He was left in the care of the ambulance service.
Firefighters put out the fire by 4.20pm.
Station Manager Danny Partridge, Incident Commander said:
"Crews responded quickly to extinguish this fire and we'd like to thank the residents for their co-operation while we put this fire out."
