Businesses in Colchester are being urged to share information with the council ahead of further support grants.

The authority says businesses only have to fill in the form once and then they'll contact them if they're eligible for future funding.

It's hoped it'll simplify the system during what is already a stressful period.

Councillor David King, Portfolio Holder for Business and Resources, said: “We want to help businesses to understand the support grants announced by the Government and Essex County Council. Having one form, which will automatically determine which grant, if any, a business is eligible for, will simplify the process during an already stressful period.

“Even if a business is not currently eligible for a grant, they should complete the form soon, providing as much information as possible. We will notify you in the future if you become eligible for support, and we will be able to get vital aid to you as soon as possible.

“More funding will become available for businesses and Colchester will work to distribute it as widely as possible.

“Please complete the application form, get added to our system, and be patient. Aid is coming.”
