Man charged after Colchester assault left man in critical condition

A man has been charged in connection with an assault in Colchester that left another man in a critical condition.

Police were called to breakup a fight that had broken out in the early hours of August 28th, 2021.

When officers arrived, a man in his 40s was found on the ground near the junction of Queen Street in the city at about 4:20 am.

The man was taken to hospital in a critical condition. The victim currently remains in hospital due to his injuries, but are not thought to be life-threatening.

The man was assaulted on the junction near Queen Street in the Colchester.

Essex Police have now charged a man in connection with the incident over five months later.

Jacob Wilson, aged 21, currently living at Erle Havard Road, West Bergholt, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

Wilson has been released on bail after being charged, and will stand before Colchester Magistrates' Court on February 8th.

Another three men who were also arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident have since been released without charge.
