A woman has died in a caravan fire in Clacton.

Fire crews were called out to Highfield Grange Holiday Park yesterday morning and found a caravan fully ablaze.

The woman, in her 50s, died at the scene.

Another, in her 20s, was taken to hospital after breathing in smoke.

Essex Police said in a statement last night:

"Our officers are working with fire investigators to establish the cause of the fire.

"Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by today’s tragic events."

An investigation is now underway into the cause of the fire.
