The family of a man, who died following a collision in Southend have paid tribute to him.

Officers were called to Woodgrange Drive in Southend at around 4:20pm on Wednesday, 13 December following a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, who can now be named as 78-year-old Michael Howard was taken to hospital where he sadly died on 20 December.

His family have today paid tribute to him saying the following:

“Michael was a cherished Partner, Dad, Grandad and friend. He had such a zest for life, and lived life to the full.

He gained enjoyment from helping others, be it fitting a new bathroom, carrying out electronic repairs or installing an aerial on a roof. His skills knew no bounds.

He will be sorely missed by his family, partner and friends. There is a void in our lives without him.”

A 58-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the Essex Police investigation and currently released on bail whilst enquiries continue.

Officers from Essex Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed anything or have any further information or dashcam footage to contact them.
