A Chelmsford born cyclist has struck silver at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. Crystal Lane Wright, who now resides in Manchester, finished second in the women's road time trial C5 event, winning her second medal at these Games in the process.

She had previously finished second in the Women's pursuit cycling C5 event. Today's win takes the former World Champion cyclist's Paralympic medal tally to 4, adding to her bronze and silver medal haul at Rio in 2016.

She was beaten to the Gold Medal by fellow ParalympicsGB Cyclist Dame Sarah Storey, who is now Britain's joint-most successful Paralympian. Her victory makes this her 16th gold medal in Paralympic competition, level with swimmer Mike Kenny.

Lane Wright finished 1.31 minutes behind Dame Storey, whose exploits in 2012 and beyond inspired her to take up the sport. The two decorated cyclists also share the same disability, an under-developed right arm.

The Essex native will now hope to add to her medal tally when she takes part in the Women's C 4-5 Road Race on Thursday.
