'Captain Essex' Cheryl Hole to compete on RuPaul's Drag Race UK Versus the World
She came fourth on Drag Race UK in 2019
A Chelmsford born drag queen will represent the UK globally on a new TV show.
Cheryl Hole will compete in RuPaul's Drag Race UK Versus the World, battling it out against queens from America, Canada, Holland, Thailand and the UK to become Queen of the World.
The self-titled dancing diva of Essex initially competed in the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, coming fourth.
She tells us what it was like getting ready for the competition:
"You have to prepare yourself for going back into the Thunderdome. It's very much The Hunger Games without dying, so you have to go in all guns blazing because you want to be the Queen of the World, you want to be the top dog! You have to believe in yourself and make sure you're bringing your best in everything."
Cheryl also said she's proud to be representing Essex globally:
"I've always done Essex proud in everything I do. I'm always representing, I'm always giving us a shout out - if you could see me on Southend Pier twirling, I would be doing it!"
She also teased what fans can expect from the show:
"All I can say is you can expect a hell of a lot of drama because there are a hell of a lot of egos! You can expect some fierce looks and some gorgeous stories, because we're all from different walks of life, from all around the world and we all have our own stories to tell, and I'm so excited for people to do that. "
Cheryl couldn't say whether or not the show would have a familiar format, in which two bottom queens lip-sync for their lives, to remain in the competition, but did hint:
"Let's just say it's a familiar format that we can all get very excited about."
Her favourite queens to compete against were Jimbo, from Canada's Drag Race, and Pangina Heals, host of Drag Race Thailand:
"I was so excited to compete with Jimbo, because Jimbo is a fruit loop and you never know what's going to happen or what they're going to pull out the bag. I was just excited to sit there as an audience member and watch it all unfold."
"I was so excited to compete against Pangina because she was a judge on Drag Race Thailand - she wasn't in the competition... so to see how she would adapt in a competition environment was so exciting to watch."
Fans can expect to see lots more of Cheryl Hole this year, and she promises to keep representing Essex:
"There's a lot in the pipeline for me in 2022 and I'm not slowing down whatsoever... I'm just so excited to get back out there and show everything that I've been working on - the growth and the evolution - and to do you proud, Essex."
