Braintree driver disqualified after trying to evade speed camera

A speeding driver who admitted trying to evade a camera monitoring traffic in Braintree, has been disqualified
A 22-year-old Braintree man was issued 6 points on his licence and ordered to pay more than £450 after he admitted driving carelessly when he appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 25 April.
Following an investigation carried out by our Roads Policing Support Team, who review camera activations, the man was identified as the driver of a Fiesta and summonsed to appear at court to answer a charge of careless driving.
He had been driving at 55mph in a 30mph road in Braintree on 15 January 2023.
As a result of sentence, the driver was disqualified for six months.
Our Roads Policing Process Manager said: “We work hard to keep our roads safe for everyone.
“Deliberately driving on the wrong side of the road posed a very serious hazard for any other road user and could have resulted in someone being seriously injured.
“We’d ask all our drivers to use the roads correctly, adhere to the Highway Code and traffic law to ensure safety for all.”
