Boy left with potentially life-changing injury after 'substance thrown in his face' in Basildon

The attackers were all wearing balaclavas

Police are appealing for information following a serious assault which took place in the area of Basildon railway station.

It was reported a 17 year-old boy was attacked by a group of people along Cherrydown East at around 8.40pm on Tuesday 21 January.

He had an unknown substance thrown in his face and has sustained a potentially life-changing injury.

The group are described as all wearing balaclavas.

Detective Constable Shannon Ross, from Basildon CID, said: “I know this incident will cause concern and we are work tirelessly to identify those responsible.

Incidents of this nature are serious but they are rare.

I need anyone who has any information about what happened to contact us.”
