Defunct stationery outlet Paperchase is set to be turned into a branch of Black Sheep Coffee. The coffee shop chain would be join the city’s many chain coffee shops – including Caffe Nero, Costa Coffee and Starbucks.

Paperchase fell into administration more than two years ago, with the closure of 37 stores. Administrators added they would keep some outlets including three stores in Essex based in Chelmsford, Colchester, and Lakeside Shopping Centre open for a short time period and staff would continue to work during that time. All remaining stores that had been kept open shut in April.

However, plans with Chelmsford City Council show Black Sheep Coffee have plans to open at the key high street site.

The company has several outlets across the country especially in London. The Chelmsford branch will be the second in Essex after its site in Colchester.

A statement on its website claims It is “serving the world’s first specialty grade Robusta beans on the market. We are innovators in the coffee industry. With coffee shops and cocktail bars across the UK, France and the Philippines.”
