Big Football Day in Essex as Lionesses start their World Cup campaign
The day is encouraging #LetGirlsPlay
As the Lionesses take charge of their first Women’s World Cup game, the Essex County FA are ready to celebrate the tournament with the Big Football Day Event across the county today.
The event, which is an initiative by the Football Association, was launched with the aim of generating interest in the world cup in local communities by encouraging local clubs to set up festivals and open mornings - particularly encouraging to #LetGirlsPlay.
Emma Burden, the Football Development Officer at the Essex County FA says that everyone is excited about the upcoming world cup and is looking forward to the big celebrations.
“We’re supporting Frenford Club in their Big Football Day Celebrations. They’re gonna get a big screen, show the game, have some food, and also have some workshops directed at mums, friends, and aunties who might be considering getting involved with the game."
