Essex Police have offered a £10,000 reward for information regarding the murder of a man in Basildon last year.

Terry Leeks, 46, died in July after being assaulted in the early hours of July 11th, 2021 in the Northlands Park area of the town.

Investigations into Mr Leeks' death are ongoing and to help with the potential for those to come forward, a reward of £10,000 has been offered by Charity Crimestoppers, working with the police.

In total, 13 people have been arrested in connection with the murder, with four potential suspects being released under investigation.

The remaining nine people arrested on suspicion of involvement have since been released, with no further action needed.

Leaflets encouraging those with information about Mr Leeks' death to come forward are being handed out in the Northlands Park area.

Speaking about the case, Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe from Essex Police said that people should not need to feel afraid about speaking with police.

“Every day that passes where Terry’s family don’t have justice for his death, it’s another day of pain for them," she said.

“There are people out in the community who knows what happened to Terry and who was responsible.

“Nearly seven months on from his death, it’s more important than ever that those people come forward to us or the independent charity Crimestoppers and report what they know.

“No matter how small or insignificant you believe this information to be, it may be the key to providing answers and justice for Terry’s family.”
