Barclays to close bank branch in Corringham in September
It's just the latest local bank in Essex set to close its doors
Corringham is to lose one of its bank branches = with Barclays announcing it will close in December.
The company announced a further 15 branches across the country would close last week.
The branch on Grover Walk will shut its doors for the final time on December 9.
Barclays says the number of counter transactions at the Corringham branch have declined by 87% since 2016.
A third of the customers have started using nearby branches instead, while only 12 people use the Holt branch exclusively.
The firm is now pointing customers towards branches in nearby Basildon and Grays .
The loss of local bank branches across Essex has led to fears about locals' access to cash and the ability of older or less mobile customers to access their finances.
