Baby Bank Tendring is expecting a surge in demand for pushchairs as coronavirus restrictions ease.

According to the charity it has seen a steady increase in people seeking support as challenges continue throughout the pandemic.

Founder of the charity, Georgia Phillips, said:

"There obviously came the wave of people being furloughed which effected people's financial situations. Then after that came the job losses, which is where a lot of families who were relying on one person's wage went down to nothing.

"Because there's been such an increase in demand we've had to make sure we've been able to apply for more grants. Luckily there has been more grants available for things such as food parcels and essentials."

Throughout the pandemic the charity hasn't experienced a need for items like pushchairs, but as freedoms increase in line with the roadmap and weather improves, that's expected to change.

Georgia continued:

"Where people were isolating I never had a lot of people wanting to donate, or people asking for, buggies or pushchairs. But I think, now the weather is getting better, people are thinking 'yeah I can finally get out and about' so I've got a feeling we're going to be offered and also asked for lots of buggies and pushchairs."

Anyone with items to donate is asked to contact the charity by emailing babybanktendring@yahoo.com or messaging on Facebook.
