Police appeal after an assault and collision in Colchester

Three young men detained on suspicion of drug offences in connection with the incidents have been released on bail

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of drug related activity in Colchester over the weekend.

It follows an assault in Othello Close and a collision between three cars in Greenstead Close on Friday night.

Two men aged - 23 and 24 - detained on suspicion of intent to supply have been released on bail - alongside a 24 year old man arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and assault - believed to be a targeted attack - to get in touch.

"We are appealing for witnesses to an assault which occurred in Othello Close, Colchester at about 8.30pm on Friday 22 January.

"The driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf came to a stop in Othello Close.

"It was reported to us that a white Ford Fiesta and a black Vauxhall Astra stopped as well. Their occupants exited their cars and pulled two passengers out of the Golf before assaulting them.

"The victims, two men aged 25 and 24, did not sustain serious injuries. We believe this to be a targeted attack.

"All parties got back into their vehicles and drove off before a collision between all three vehicles took place in Greenstead Road.

"We arrived at the scene and arrested three men.

"Two men – aged 23 and 24 – were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

"A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

"All three have been released on bail until April 14.

"We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the assault or collision.

"Witnesses and anyone with dash cam footage is asked to contact us on 101 quoting crime reference 42/20778/21.
