Men spotted 'fighting with swords' in Clacton

Police stopped vehicles on the A12 on Sunday after the incident

Armed police and the dog unit were called out to the A12 yesterday.

It was after men were spotted reportedly fighting with swords in Clacton.

Officers stopped vehicles on at Kelvedon after the incident, causing long delays.

Essex Police said in a statement:

"Officers stopped two cars on the A12 near Kelvedon on Sunday 9 May in connection with enquiries into an earlier incident in Clacton.

"We had been called at 2.40pm with reports people had been seen with weapons at the Highfield Grange Holiday Park in London Road, Clacton.

"Two cars were later stopped on the A12 and officers spoke to the occupants in connection with their enquiries. No weapons were found."
