Essex Police say they've had armed police officers at the scene of Ronald Hill Grove this morning (16 January) after reports from a partner organisation relating to the welfare of a man who was making threats.

The force were called just after 8am and sent armed police officers from their Firearms Support Unit to the area, supported by colleagues from the National Police Air Service and local policing teams.

Police say "a thorough and widespread search of the area was conducted" and they're reassuring that currently no threats to the wider public have been identified "at this stage".

They also say it's not related to the local junior school or other businesses.

Armed police officers have now left the area, however local police are continuing their enquiries.
