Armed police attend reports of shooting in Shoebury
Man hospitalised with gunshot wound
A man is in hospital following a shooting over the weekend near Southend.
Armed police descended on a car park on Frobisher Way, in Shoebury, shortly after 2am yesterday, following reports a man had been shot in the leg.
The victim was taken to hospital where his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
Chief Inspector Daniel McHugh said “I understand how concerning this incident is to the local community.
“We have resourced this investigation heavily and have a number of officers dedicated to carrying out enquiries today, including taking statements and gathering evidence at the scene.
“No arrests have been made at this stage, but I can assure the public that we are doing everything possible to identify who is responsible.
“If anyone was in the area this morning and witnessed anything suspicious, please contact us and assist with this investigation.”
